In August 2017 GEI had the pleasure of hosting thirty-one students from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in Manila, Philippines, for its Student Government Immersion Program. The participants successfully completed an international education immersion program on federalism, good governance, public administration, and foreign policy in Washington D.C. The program was designed, developed, and offered by the American Academy of Good Governance, one of the many offerings of the Global Education Initiatives Division of Creative Learning. The program was conducted from August 14 to August 25, 2017.

The governance program designed for university and college students who have a desire to understand and examine how American governance and public administration works and the impact it has on the global community. The program is taught by academic experts and experienced practitioners from different government institutions, think tanks, NGOs, and academic institutions.

I enjoyed this program very much. I have gained so much knowledge that I cannot comprehend how I would be able to consolidate this in everyday life. However, I know when I look back […] I would be able to use this information for the betterment of my work and of the people.

The two week program combines lectures, field visits, tours, and meetings with various government offices in Washington, DC and Montgomery Country, MD. The program goals are for students to (1) understand and examine U.S. public administration and governance, (2) become familiar with issues and concerns related to governance and public administration in the U.S., and (3) know the roles of different stakeholders and institutions within the U.S. public administration and governance.
